English and Creative Writing are part of one thriving department at Newman University College, Birmingham. As well as being taught by highly experienced, qualified and supportive staff you will benefit from access to visiting speakers and published authors, opportunities to attend events, such as the Birmingham Book Festival, and extra-curricular activities such as theatre and gallery visits.
You will be taught using a range of methods including interactive lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, small group work and on-line activities
The English subject area is very active. Published authors and performance poets work with students on the Creative Writing modules. Our sponsorship of the Birmingham Book Festival 2010 enabled students to hear leading contemporary writers such as Jackie Kay, Lionel Shriver and Carol Ann Duffy talk about their work.
