Thanks for watching.
The bass is a Yamaha BBG4SII (a discontinued line).
I tried a new recording setup today. I set up a microphone up in front of my amp. That went into my audio interface (an M-Audio Fast Track Pro), which went into my macbook pro. I recorded it using the program Ableton Live, which I then mixed with the original track, then imported into iMovie (my camera is a Canon PowerShot SX20is).
I found that the key way to sound like paul d'amour is to hold your pick more slanted that normal, and to be very aggressive with it. The slant makes it so that each picking results in a miniature pick-scrape....making it sound much more grungy. You'll also want to turn up the highs on the equalizer.

  • I can't get over how amazing that bass tone is that Paul D'Amour experimented with on the EP; you did a great job at replicating that. What kind of amp do you use?

  • Nice vid!
