Hi I had the same problem with my Q5 although it is the 3.0 TDI model. (see "Q5 surging problem" on YouTube) Long story but after trying many fixes the dealer pressured Germany to replace the 7 speed DSG gearbox. Problem was solved instantly.

Same thing with my cousins Q5

You are right about the update it was the first thing I asked them about . They said it is already had the latest update. After they checked the memory of the car for any fault they told me that one of the vale sensors is bad. I really don’t know what is going on with Audi these days . I still have other problems with them.

My 1-year old Q5 2.0TFSI S-tronic started malfunctioning last week. The guys from ETEA are currently trying to re-install the gearbox ECU hardware. 2500 Euro the cost, thank Buddha that it's on warranty.

Last month I got an A5 with the same engine TFSI 2.0 and it has the same thing . I went to the Audi maintenance shop and they checked it .They said that one of the valve sensors has a problem and they need to change it.

@zarieahgmail well thats interesting! the problem is supposed to be solved with an ECU update that Audi has released over a year ago. i guess your engine would not need that because it's much younger that mine (March 09) and should carry the most recent ECU program. although i have almost fixed the problem now, i will have the valve sensors checked next time i visit the maintenance shop since the Audi mechanics are kind of lame here in Greece!
