Who would have ever imagined that this once shy and almost anti-athletic lady became the Tina Salak we all know today? Then known as Cookie (?), she led the SMI Girls Volleyball Team in its very first 3-peat victory at the Bacoor Municipal Meet and became the first draft pick at the district meet and the provincial meet two years in a row. She was the instant favorite to play at the Regional Meet, then known as the STRAA but opted to join the RP Junior Women's Volleyball Team instead where she won the title Best Blocker in an International Meet. Her college years meant being the star player of the Far Eastern University and winning several other awards including championship status for her college alma mater. Nevertheless, her beginnings would never be forgotten as she will forever be in the annals of SMI history.
Cristina Landas Salak - an athlete... an inspiration... an alumna of the SMI Volleyball Team!
