  • did Christopher arrange it as solo piano versio himself? or was there an arragement done by someone already available?

  • This is actually Liszt's own arrangement, except for the very ending, which I embellished to match the concerto version (idea courtesy of Joel Hastings).

  • Many people attribute the invention of heavy metal to Black Sabbath, but I think it is clear that Franz Liszt was doing dark heavy music way before they were even born. Definitely one of the most brilliant songs ever written!

  • Normally I dislike the solo piano arrangement of the Totentanz, as pianists tend to not add in the color necessary to imitate the orchestra. This, however, is a great performance, perhaps even equal in quality to Lisitsa's performance here on Youtube. Of course, yours doesn't cut off right before the Cadenza.

  • I find this piano solo version to be the most faithful to the orchestral score - truly a masterpiece played masterfully. I can hear the orchestra while you play, I don't know how you made the piano sing like that, but bravo!

  • @Maroonmug59 Lisitsa's video is great but it's been edited. This is a 100% live performance, and very well played, less mistakes than Enrico Pace's.

  • Not a good interpretation.

  • Dies Irae!!!!

  • Superb. Even the timing is excellent - normally I disagree with the interpretation of timing in Liszt's 2nd & 3rd arrangements, but this flows without a single millisecond wrong. You are a most talented man and you have my utmost admiration.

  • Looks like someone knows how to play Liszt :-)

You know Liszt and that is something, even the biggest musicians cant understand Liszt or they dont even try to. I hope to hear frome this pianist more.

  • Wow, I am totally amazed! Two thumbs up for this awesome performance!

Wish you good luck for the Van CLiburn 2011 Competition!
