i know he didn't have anything to do with the writing of this song but I still think it is one of his best. Still play the original LP while the record player works!
This particular live performance is a bit of buried treasured. Not viewed that much at all yet the best live performance I have heard! A simple song musically speaking, yet with profound lyrics and message. This song is a real GEM that shines every time it is played. But, it must be done well! ...The vocals have to be precise intonation and phrasing and that is the challenge..
@ROSTAFA Right, hence isn't this the ONLY song he ever played on?
Apparently so, according to wolfgang's vault website review of this show. Elton started the song by saying: "You don't often see me playing guitar...because I can't."
@HDaFicionado Heart actually covered quite a few of Elton's songs. Nancy Wilson duetted with Elton with a new version of 'Where To Now St Peter' on a recent album of hers.
Jeez me, this is a truly threshold sort of performance; at a time when Elton was considered creatively defunct, not to mention healthily deficient. Anybody who wants to cut him down for being so apparently down at this time should reference this show you've uploaded.
@lclaughton I was there, I am sure the concert was good...if only I could remember most of the 1980s!

The "Wilson" sisters did an xcellent cover of this tune on their concert filmed on "Soundstage" a few years back.
