Super Mario Bros Hitboxes Exposed

If you are about my age you probably have played Super Mario Bros at some point. Ever wondered why the piranhas didn't kill you? How you can kill enemies by touching them with your mustache or belly? Well this video shows you why.

It uses a Lua script to read hitbox data directly from the NES memory in an emulator. In some cases (like bowser fireballs) they're very tiny. Notice that moving platforms use hitboxes as well!

You'll need an FCEU with Lua, or you can get the latest FCEUX build from SourceForge.

Notice that the video seems to glitch at 8.2, where mario stops near the end, but the movie continues. klmz jumps on a bullet bill right before touching the flag, causing him to end up on the wrong side of the pole.

Note that the previous video had some errors, specifically the offset was wrong. This video fixed that and shows all the hitboxes the RAM contains.

Lol, those piranha plants have small hitboxes. So that's how I could get so close without getting hit.

Always knew the Piranha Plants had small hit boxes and wowed peopel with that trick as a kid, but I never knew they were THAT small! Awesome video and I am now going to fet FCEUX!!!

@iChocolateAddict The hitbox is on the bottom aswell so Hammer bro is hittiable from bottom and top
