Noisy helmet and dodgy brakes

I recently bought a modular helmet that I'm not happy with. I also need to replace my front rotor and rebuild my calliper this winter.

ive used a flip top caberg until recently when i got a full face helmet for my cam, anyway ive found myself using the full face one more and more, the wind noise is annoying sure but i feel more snug in the full face helmet. (plus it looks cooler) lol

Yeah, another downside to fliptops is: any street cred you happened to have on your bike with your leathers etc you instantly lose as soon as you flip up your helmet and look like a dork :)

true lol, but you can also stop and smoke whenever while your friends fumble for their helmet straps :P

Given the price, the wavey rotor sounds good. Is it metallurgically as good?

Apart from cosmetics, do wavey brake rotors offer any advantage on a street bike? I understand they are good at clearing the mud off on dirt bikes. Any extra surface area for dissipating heat doesn't seem realistic. Rotors are pretty thin to begin with.

Still, £50 is £50. You could probably go from Cardiff to London on that.

Yeah, I'd stick with full face DP. They do have their advantages when re-fueling though or at a long red light on a hot day. But I must say the wind noise cons outweigh all their pros.

You mentioned in your reply to Zavochkin that wearing glasses was the main reason for your trying out a modular helmet. I've pretty much always worn glasses as well, and have never really had any issues with using a full face helmet. While I suppose that it's nice not having to remove the specs in order to pull the modular version on or off, I'll stick with a regular full face. Especially after hearing your report on how noisy the flip up ones are.

lol, I think the term is more along the lines of "not so bright" than "kamikaze"...lol. The kamikaze's actually knew what they were doing, dont think pigeons have ever been know to have a lot of brain power...lol

Yeah, what I really meant to say was suicidal tendencies :) I was going to add an annotation but forgot

Never saw what was the big deal about modular helmets. They are all known to be more noisy too, but I just don't have any desire to flip it open like that unless I'm parked and trying to talk with someone.

The attraction for me was due to my glasses. It's a real pain taking them on and off with a full face. After owning a modular now, I doubt I'd buy another. At least I have both now though.
