Today Steve talks about the Fender Esquire which features in this months Jacksons Rare Guitars newsletter.

@rjsizzzle The Esquire has a single bridge pickup and the Tele has a bridge and a neck pickup. The Esquire is loved for it's simplicity and even with the Tele neck pickup off, the magnets still have an "effect" (magnetic pull) on the strings so the esquire will have less effect on the strings (vibration).

How much do esquires usually cost? ;)

@rjsizzzle esquires have a single bridge pickup, one volume, one tone, and a 3-way ton switch. First position bypasses the tone and is all treble, middle position let's you control the tone with the knob, and the third position also bypasses the tone as if it were on 0. On a tele, there is a neck pickup and a bridge pickup, one volume, one tone, and a 3 way pick up selector.

@MrMeddled
I've definitely seen footage of JB w/ a "Tele"-looking two-pickup guitar. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he swapped pickups in and out of that one Esquire.
(But yeah, I think we all agree about the Tele-Gib via Clapton/Duncan:))

I'm glad that Ausies really enjoy the vintage California sound.
