The capacitor is one of the most common electronic components. You can find them in many circuits. You can make a capacitor out of only household supplies, and store small amounts of energy in them!

  • doesnt work...

  • @markuscoollife It doesn't hold a lot of dc current. Try charging it with static electricity. Ideally a whimhurst generator... That's actually how these were charged in the 1800s. It was an early form of battery... Pretty cool I think.

  • What about the last nail? Will this work with a can? Thanks

  • @AndyTzan And did that work?

  • screw it tightly

  • It would work better if you added citric acid. Wouldn't it?

  • im just wondering....are you gay?

  • Nice! its good to see a simple demonstration and well worded its not all about knowlage its how you present it . Thumbs up.

  • Do you think perhaps the plastic bottle is letting the capacitor not charge that much?

I think ill try it in 2 ways : Plastic and then Glass.

    Really nice video.

  • so basically the plastic here is the dielectric...

one plate being the salt-solution coupled with a nail...and the other being an aluminium foil and another nail ,right?

  • @james5118 google search radioshack electronic learning lab
