What? No HDMI out? What a rip off!

I thought they quit making Beta in like 1985? Maybe it only had a super small market share. Can't believe they held on that long. Well I guess Sony had the last laugh.

Ray, which machine do you consider the best Beta? The ED-Betas seem to fetch the most money these days.

@schuchnet In MY humble opinion, the #1 BEST Betamax EVER was the SL-HF1000. It had features that were NOT on the SL-HF2100 shown on this video, and the performance was MUCH better!! The ED Betas fetch big bucks because they're very rare, and use metal tape to achieve 500 lines of resolution. I didn't think the ED Beta picture was that much better than the B-ISHB recordings on my SL-HF1000

@videoholicreturns Good to know! I just picked up an SL-HF1000. I can definitely see a resolution increase as I go from standard Beta to Super to Highband. I haven't done an A/B with superVHS yet.
I plan to do some beta to DVD transfers with the unit, so hopefully it will serve me well in that capacity.

@schuchnet You may find that the 1000 even has a better picture than S-VHS! The color is better, more pure, but SVHS might be a bit sharper (supposedly it's 400 lines).
