  • I don't think it's fair to a young tenor with a pleasant voice to compare him to Pavarotti, when he doesn't sound anything like him.

And it's not good for opera in general to be constantly dwelling on the memory of a deceased superstar instead of realistically assessing the singers who are performing right now...

  • NIce voice..but let's forget the somehow conection with Pavarotti. Just hear him for what he is.

  • I feel a little to insensative to the action of the scene..

  • Beautiful! I believe Pava would be so proud to hear how this young man has developed---the next great Tenor----Bravo, Vittorio!

  • @colino72 I blame it on dramatics---ala his last teacher--Domingo.

  • Saw Grigolo live at The Met as Rodolfo. He has a large, emotionally moving voice.

  • Might he not be the best tenor in the world right now? Give him a few more years and I don't think there will be any question. He really seems to have it all. I've been looking for a worthy successor to the greats----he just might be it.

  • Jonas Kaufman is one of the few newer tenors that can do this song well, when comparing Vittorio with many of his peers, I just see him performing something else that is better suited to his voice, timbre, etc.

  • Very nice voice with a very sweet quality and yet a power that will continue to heighten as he develops his voice. I love Pavarotti and feel blessed to have been given the chance to listen to him for so long a time but I too agree that the constant comparisons should stop and let us enjoy each new tenor in their own right.

  • I saw Grigolo as Gennaro opposite Renee Flemming in Lucrezia Borgia and was impressed, his is a lovely light lyric voice. I hope he does not follow Salvatore Licitra who was also called the new Pavorotti and begin to push and stretch his voice beyond it's limits. Pavorotti grew into his career and stayed with the roles that showcased him best. Grigolo must be himself and know he is developing still.
