@rlm1993 Ok, this is the same discussion we have had since I started JKD in the late 80s. You are not going to poke somebody in the eye if you cannot even punch them properly. You are not gonna land any groinshots if you cannot even kick. Crnko had no clue at all of the mechanics of fighting he was up against. And MMA is not staged, what is staged are the endless demonstrations of the "effectiveness" of wing chun where the attacker never really fights back.

@jbravo41 you have to understand that wing tsun is not meant for staged fights hence there are no competitions in wing tsun. In reality a person who understands wing tsun and the seriousness of the fight will usually end up taking out an eye, hitting the groin, elbowing the back of the head and neck as well as kidney shots. Most of those shots are illegal in MMA are they not?

what happened stefan?

i think, the claim that crnko was just a beginner at that time is pure nonsense. if you read the date (21st of july 2007)of the event, you can imagine that he was not a beginner at all. unless he took his 4th or 5th degree in wing tsun in 4 years which seems utopian to me. wing tsun guys seem to be vulnerable and susceptible for hook punches from the outside. with all the excitement in a fight they forget all the excellent techniques of wing tsun. they have not yet become their second nature.
-
@professorprolo I never said that THIS IS Wing Tsun, in fact I DON´T see any of it. Problem is, that despite being beginners level of Wing Tsun/wing chun one should have some basics down. Including the straight blast and attacking principle. Crnko did not use any of that. So yes, it IS NO Wing Tsun. Despite that, the Wing Chun-ers still have not proven their style to be effective against any of the pro MMAers. Wing Chun is effective, but limited in its application, contrary to what they claim.

@jbravo41 You have to know, that when Stefan Crnko did this fight, he wasnt very skilled in WIngTsun. He was just beginning it. Nowadays after years of training and reaching the lvl of techinician he has tough skills. But when he did that fight he just started training Wing Tsun, before that he was doing many other styles. So dont say this is WIng Tsun please.
Wing Tsun got OWNED !!! But where did Crnko actually EVER use the Wing Tsun straight blast or wu sao man sao hands and kick ??????????? He always seems to enter like a regular boxer.
