Gates, NY resident Barb Vagg tells us a little bit about her bird sanctuary and adoption center in Rochester, NY: Second Chance Bird Rescue. She also introduces us to one of the more chatty birds and tells its story.
We've got a few shelters here in Madison, WI. What I find interesting is how many parrots came from homes that weren't abusive or hugely neglectful, as much as it was the owners didn't know what they were doing. So many birds were not abused, they simply weren't handled enough at an early age, and so they remain fearful and agressive for a pretty long time.
@abitscinny Amen! 256? That is quite a lot!

Breaks my heart to know that these beautiful creatures are mistreated. It is a lifetime responsibility. It is not like a cat or dog
