The month of December was a very busy one for me with all the holidays and family obligations. However, I did manage to work a bit of railfanning into my schedule. First we go to Kirkwood on December 9th and catch the eastbound Amtrak "Missouri River Runner," Train #314, as it makes its routine station stop. Then we hurry to Cliff Cave County Park, about 15 1/2 miles away to catch the northbound Amtrak "Texas Eagle," Train #22, led by AMTK 72 as it blasts its way through the park at track speed. Eleven days later, we head across the river to the UP Chester Sub at DD Road outside of Columbia, IL, on a very cold and dreary afternoon to take in some of the action there. Even though the weather was less than ideal, the nonstop action made it very much worthwhile. Finally, as daylight began to fade, I had to call it quits and head for the house. Enjoy!!!
great action!
