US Navy Warships Face-Off with Iran Speed Boats

United States Navy released this dramatic video and audio tapes of the 2008 stand-off with Iran. The video shows five Iranian speedboats swarming around three American warships going through the Strait of Hormuz. Fortunately the speedboats left before the warships opened fire.
The speedboats, believed to belong to Iran's Revolutionary Guards, came within about 200 meters of the US vessels, Pentagon officials said. The Iranian boats were operating at distances and speeds that showed dangerous and potentially hostile intent. At least some of the boats were visibly armed.
US Sailors assumed battle stations and the captain on one of the ships was about to order an attack when the Iranian boats turned away. The three US warships, identified as Navy Cruiser USS Port Royal, Destroyer USS Hopper and Frigate USS Ingraham, were in international waters.
