@fearedlegend The fellowship began by two people sharing their experience strength and hope with each other. Today this is repeated all over the world for people who really want to live a life free from alcohol. It's there only if you want it. I hope you find what you need.

If you believe in faith healing, maybe AA's program is for you. Cognitive behavior therapy counseling and Smartrecovery worked for me where the AA program didn't because I don't believe in faith healing. I tried AA for a year (steps, AA literature, having a sponsor, making lots of meetings, service work, sponsoring, chairing meetings, etc.), but I can't make myself think that I believe in a Higher Power that hears and answers prayers. I am sober 889 consecutive days so far...

If you find a better one that actually works isegoria, I will be very happy for you.Millions of people in AA are living happy lives. You can't deny it doesn't work for other people, just didn't work for you. As for the success rate, People who truly give themselves to the program will recover. It's the people that are totally against it that don't. I'm sure for every person sitting in that chair, there were 20 that came in and said the exact same thing u said and left. AA worked for me. 5+ years now I love it and the people! Wonderful organization! Had a great conversation tonight with a woman 23 years sober and man 17 years sober. Fine people these 2.

@isegoria1 i've been going to meetings for about 3 months.The BIG BOOK is full of big crap.It's full of opinions,lies and missinformation.This mostly stupid piece of literature was written in the 1930's for christ sake.Almost nothing was known about alcoholism back then.How can AA expect any results when it mandates giving yourself to a higher power and having a spiritual experience as the ONLY way to quit.No wonder their success rate is near zero.Worst treatment program without question forsure
