@aakkoin yeah man! Michael Manring is the No.1 !! :-D
pieces like "Selene" are just unmatched in the world of bass... I enjoy all of the grandmasters of bass though.
especially Jaco was just highly entertaining on top of his incredible skill ;)

I know that Jaco have had a couple of Morch basses, and this certainly looks like a Morch bass to me, but I am not 100% sure.

@ACnolleDC I thought it was a Morch bass (Denmark).

A great musician with serious psichiatric problems...we all miss you. R.I.P

The best way I can describe Jaco is Coltrane and Hendrix had a bass-playing baby.

@Mavodo23 Jaco revolutionised so much, if not everything. The melodies, harmonies, rhythm, sounds and technique, with amazing honest and direct feeling. He was devastatingly emotional, elegant and yet raw and powerful.
I agree that there can't really be a "number one", but you can't deny peoples opinion. If someone says "he is the greatest", of course they mean it in their personal opinion. That is my opinion also.. (with Michael Manring carrying the torch). Einstein of bass, bad boy of jazz!
