HSBC faces fine over money-laundering

Europe's biggest bank, HSBC, is reported to be facing fines of nearly two billion dollars from regulators in the United States.

This comes after the Senate reported in July on a "pervasively polluted" culture at the bank.

It accused HSBC of acting as financier to drug cartels and other criminals.

Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from Washington DC.

Put all the HSBC chiefs in prison and throw away the key. They knew what was going on and enjoyed the wealth it created. The government should hold it's head in shame. What has the World come to when "trusted banks" are colluding with drug dealers and prostitute gangs.

I voted for my building society to become a bank, a decision I now regret. It allowed the risk taking to take off as never seen before.
