12600 Buddhist monks taking alms in Chiang Mai

Every year in November there is this event with many monks taking alms. When their alm bowl is completely filled, they empty them in big plastic bags that are hold up by soldiers. The event is becoming bigger and bigger every year: 10000 in 2009, 12500 in 2010 and now (2011) 12600. The pope would wish to have that many monks in an area of the size of Chiang Mai Province.
