Annie Andrews with a "Big Picture" story from May 2010.

Teeg Stouffer from Recycled Fish: "The soldiers in the fight against the spread of invasive species are us - people who love to fish, people who are out on the water."

This piece focuses on invasive fish: common carp, white perch, bighead and silver carp. There are others like yellow bass, too. To prevent their spread, never dump bait (or aquariums) into any lake or stream, and never intentionally move fish around. No bucket biologists!

Just as important are the plants and critters like zebra mussels: clean, inspect and dry to help stop the spread of those aquatic nuisance species.

Our waters need not just sportsmen, but stewards.
