Noam Chomsky: "The U.S. and Its Allies Will Do Anything to Prevent Democracy in the Arab World"

Speaking at the 25th anniversary celebration of the national media watch group Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, world-renowned political dissident and linguist Noam Chomsky analyzes the U.S. response to the popular uprisings sweeping the Middle East and North Africa. "Across the [Middle East], an overwhelming majority of the population regards the United States as the main threat to their interests," Chomsky says. "The reason is very simple... Plainly, the U.S. and its allies are not going to want governments which are responsive to the will of t he people. If that happens, not only will the U.S. not control the region, but it will be thrown out.

Noam Chomsky can say anything he wants and call anyone names as he pleases because he can back anything he says with FACTS. Yes, a true humanitarian.

Whenever I hear his words, about US Foreign Policy, it makes me think that I'm living in 'Bizzaro' land , Noam speak's the truth, and more people should do something about our policies, the only answer I can see, is there will be a 'Revolution', in order to change the 'Guards' that control the 'Power' that 'We the People' should be the new guards.

I can't tell if you're serious or trolling. If you really mean all of this, then you are a hilarious person xD A parody of yourself even. This is impressively misinformed.

I was just wondering if anybody could reply to me concerning this question: If the U.S. and its allies will do anything to prevent democracy in the Arab World, why did they intervene in Iraq and Afghanistan and why are they opposing the brutal regime in Syria? From what I've heard of Chomsky, I think his answer would be something like: 'They'll not, however, support dictatorships which are not in line with U.S. policy; they'll overthrow these regimes and insert pseudo-democratic regimes'.

Chomsky has become FULL OF SHIT. Bush had no higher hopes than Iraq and Afghanistan becoming stable democracies. He also took a VERY clear position for the democracy movement in Iran.

Chomsky fails to see that Bush changed US policy from once having imposed dictators and tyrants to deposing them. This change in policy hasn't been implemented everywhere though, which is sad.

Chomsky has turned into a little cry baby.

A democracy is a country where the people are free and have human rights. Its not enough just to have elections. if you elect this dictator or the other, you still live in a dectatorship. the USA is afraid that the regime that will replace Kaddafi and Moubaraq will be even worst. thats because the islamist parties are likely to win the elections there and threat the USA by gaining more power for islamic terror organizations like al-quaida and hammas. the arab spring didnt bring real democracy.
