Part of the 1983 film "Discovering Electronic Music". This is an introduction to the synthesizers and computers used to create electronic music. The film explains the basics of how sound is converted into electrical signals, the functions of oscillators, envelopes and filters, and the roles of samplers and sequencers.

  • I need that volume lever handle thing. I need at least a 16 track mixer where all of the gains are controlled by those handles. Only then will I do a live show.

  • It's pretty amazing to think that even in the 70s, computers were fast enough to spend most of it's time waiting before sending the next tick in a note. Audio playback for a computer even then was mostly waiting around.
