  • I really liked this. Seeing how things were done back in the day is neat. Techniques like the one used in this commercial were probably considered cutting edge tech. That crane must have weighed a ton and the guy tossing the furniture out of the way was a hoot. Now days they just use CG animation or chroma key to do the same thing. kinda sad in a way. pretty soon we will no longer have actors, camera men, grips, or makeup artists. Reflections of humanity will be supplanted by 1s & 0s

  • There was a day once when originality & talent mattered. Love the making of the commercial, as well.

  • Great footage! I especially enjoyed the behind the scene look of how a commercial is made.

Stagecoach West was on ABC Tuesday nights (9:00-10:00 Eastern time) from October 4, 1960 to September 26, 1961. Westerns were very popular but the excess of those types of shows probably hurt this show's chance for success.

  • I wonder how many youngsters will ask what are those metal rods onto of the television set in the purina office?

  • Terrible actor. Financial genius, terrible actor.

  • I take it he made money. Good ....actors need to depend on more then there 15minutes of fame.

  • This is how I best remember Wayne Rogers.

(Yes, this gives away my age, 21-plus).

  • This is a "sales film", prepared for a summer 1960 meeting of executives and sales force associated with the Purina Pet Foods division of Ralston-Purina Company, to let them know about their new fall series, "STAGECOAST WEST" (which was also co-sponsored by General Foods, who probably had a separate "pitch" prepared for one of their meetings as well). And yes, Ralston-Purina also co-sponsored "{THE} CHEYENNE {SHOW}" and "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER" at the same time.

  • ha ha ha ...you mean thats not the way he talked on MASH. LOL
