One more thing...there is also no specific command to use computers...perhaps we shouldn't do that either. Just sayin'.

@spidar37 How do you know? What about David's harp? What about the shofar? What about the trumpets the Lord speaks of in revelation? Even this song..."The Trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend?" As I stated below, I play instrumental music on the piano through worship to my King and does that mean my worship is not "worthy" because it comes from an instrument?? I beg to differ. God loves all music..as long is it is righteous, sincere and from the heart.

@pmhem I agree to a point with you. However, even Jesus visited the temlples. We don't "need" houses either but they are a blessing. People don't fast as Jesus did...because no one could live and hold a candle next to His righteousness. We are suppose to live a Christ-like life which can be a struggle for all of us at times. But loving each other is something He taught more than fasting. :-) Blessings to you.

@LizzKhalifa1028 How is it that instrumental music is a "no?" Am I understanding your statement correctly? Why then did David have a harp? There were shofars, drums, harps...etc. I write instrumental music on my piano and it is some of the most beautiful time that I spend with my Lord. It matters not where the music comes from as along as it is a righteous worship of God.

A song leader, paid preacher, church, song books, and pews are expediencies.. they are aides and do not go against God's authority. Instrumental music in worship however is a no. We are to sing and make melody in our hearts. Instrumental music is not expedient.

@spidar37 Neither are we authorized to have a "song leader", a "paid preacher", a "church building", "song books", "pews", etc., etc. The list can go on and on. What things do we decide are okay and which are not? In Matthew 6, Jesus says, "and when you fast..." He doesn't say "if" you fast. How many "church of Christ-ers" fast like He did? If we're not, then we are ignoring a "specific example" and once again are picking and choosing which parts of His word we elect to follow. Consistency...

This hymn is the most important hymn to me. I used to sing it with my dad and sister and it was sung at an impromptu chapel in my high school when 9/11 happened. I like this strong version, but it sounds best when sung by the broken.

Just LOVING this one. Wow

@FCO0710 I ask you again, who I higher; David or Jesus? When you can, I beseech you to please read Acts 2:2-36 and the answer shall be there for you.
-
@FCO0710 Let me ask you this. Who is higher; David or Jesus? If you say Jesus, isn't it true that Matthew 22:41-46 says, “He said to them, "How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet?'"If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions."
Music commanded in the New Testament is vocal. It is a specific command, therefore it excludes all other kinds of music. No where in the New Testament does Christ, or an inspired man command the use instruments of music. There is no command for it's use in the church, there is no example of it being used by the church.
