Regarding Ties:
This was the #1 most confusing thing in my 200 1sts video for Rock Band 1. In this video, if I am tied for 1st, but not listed in the 1st spot, I will either say "That's A Tie" or "Tie" immediately before the number. All ties for first still count as a first.

Ok, so you have first on most songs, why are you ranked so low on the career leaderboard on XBL?
Because there is a glitch in that leaderboard. You can go to rockband.scorehero.com for the actual rankings.

Why 502? Why Not 500 Exactly?
The tool I was using to count my 1sts on the leaderboards was missing two DLC songs, so the count was 2 off. So I had insurance and didn't even know it.

Why Don't You Have 1st On (Insert Song Here)?
There are a variety of reasons why I don't have 1st on every song. Most of them are based around luck. Here are the most frequent reasons:
1. Talky Squeezes: Talky phrases spin at random rates based on various factors and some people simply know how to "hack" them, so to speak. I do not for the most part, therefore I usually fail at those.
2. Blitzkrieg Bop Style Glitching: The Blitzkrieg Bop glitch allows a person to obtain more points on a phrase than should be possible within the legal confines of the game engine. This is also incredibly random, much more so than talky glitches. Scorehero doesn't even allow these glitched scores to be posted anymore. Anyways, there are several 1sts I am missing due to this where I have the optimal score on the song without glitching.
3. The Random 4: This factor seems to have come to the forefront in the Rock Band 2 engine. Essentially what happens is the game awards you 4 points completely at random on certain squeezes. You may notice that a number of my 2nd place scores are only by 4 points. That is often because of this factor. Shoulder To The Plow is probably the best example of it.
4. Other Factors: Without going into too much detail, there are a couple of specific types of activation windows that I don't do very well with.
5. Getting My Ass Kicked: Simply put, on some songs I was just simply beaten by someone who squeezed better than me on that song, with no real luck or tricks factoring in. Kudos.
