Discovering Chinese series is designed for middle and high school beginner Chinese language learners. There are 4 volumes, each containing 12 lessons, and each textbook comes with a variety of supplemental products. Because our emphasis for beginner Chinese learners is on communication, each lesson includes a illustrated lesson dialogue in which students can see age appropriate characters interact in their daily lives such as being at school, at home, or with their friends. Each lesson also has a grammar section that introduces the basic grammar concepts, exercises, reading challenges and reading sections that are wonderful assessment tools for teachers as well as evaluation of what students have learned so far. Discover Chinese series also encompasses a cultural component that introduces aspects of Chinese culture. Each lesson also features sections on vocabulary and character stroke order sequences. In addition to textbooks, Discovering Chinese has workbooks that comes along with each volume, several worksheets, a comprehensive Teachers Guide with clear lesson objectives, suggested activities, and cultural pointers, as well as online modules that feature animated lesson stories, homework questions, and magical Chinese characters. Students who complete these series will be well equipped to take the SAT II Chinese Language exams and the IB program as well.
