This great artist seems almost forgotten today. Verve, Mainstream, etc. released little of her finest work (or did a very shabby job of licensing it out). In the 1950's - as on this recording- one can hear the influence of Sarah Vaughan, her idol. By the 1960's she had one of the most individual and moving voices of her generation. I was priviledged to see her well into the 1990's in NYC and the voice (and the persona) was as young as ever. Thanks for posting this lovely record!
