At the dawn of WWII, The French and the English, friends and allies for over 100 years, fought valiantly, side by side, committed to stopping the German War machine. But in the summer of 1940, Germany invaded France.
The English, with concern that the French Naval Fleet would fall into German hands, requested that their friends defect. The French Admiralty refused.
On July 3, 1940, the unthinkable occurred. An event wished to be forgotten by history. Friends were forced to fight against friends. The British attacked the French, sinking their ships, killing nearly 1000 men.
@ajbrown100 . What a mascaraed. Did you forget the legendary brutality of British empire ? We have still memories when the british and US government killed a lot of our ancestors at WW2. What kind of allies were (are ?) the anglo-saxons ?

We turned against you because the future of the british people was at stake. We gived the french an option and they refused all the options given to them. It was war and everything that comes with war. We have gone to hundreds of war to save liberty and the british way of life. We have done some bad things and we have also done some good things. We have not turned against anyone and if we have it is for are own intrests. we have are way of life so do you.

It was a war and everything that cam with it, we have done some bad things but just because we destroyed the fench fleet because we were concerned. we gived the french a option of the feet and they refused, and we do not go killing inorcent people. It is war and maybe you should learn what war means. We did alot in world war 2 and the rest of the world took all the glory. We may have tortured but look at the rest of the world including the USA.

This is proof that the British elites are traitors. We know them as treacherous as "perfidious Albion".
For hundreds of years they have continued to betray their European brothers, and they do the same with USA now ( look at Wall street ...)

@tokra4040 Russia only survived the Nazi invasion because of the British Atlantic Convoys where thousands perished in the North Atlantic, but kept on supplying the Russians with armaments so they could survive. The British also cracked the Enigma Code informing the Russians where the Nazis were going to attack them at any location & even what time.

@tokra4040 Yes but as I said look at the language used by Tyco200. He is using very emotive language about British servicemen who at the end of the day, whether he likes it or not, died in their thousands to help liberate France. It is one thing to accept France's rather feeble performance in the war but quite another to have that kind of bile thrown about. It is Tyco200 who is the ingrate. (Kaiserbill is my other sign on)

@Kaiserbill99 Thankless???? Why France should it eternally of the gratitude? Do United States thus owe it to us? Then I re-knows our defeat and the collaboration of a part(party) of the population; but I refuse that our nation is judged on the only ones makes of the Second World War.

@tokra4040 It was not you that made the derogitory comments about English servicemen. They are attributable to Tyco200. Many apologies.

@tokra4040 Why are you thanking 11nytram? He has basically confirmed, although done very eloquently, that you are talking out of your arse. You have called British servicemen "cowards" as "running like dogs" and "assholes" and you still cannot accept that France surrendered then collaborated with Nazism while Britain fought on. Then those same "cowards" played a significant part in liberating France. I haven't "decreased a nation" but pointed out the historical truth to a French ingrate.
