It is regular USB. I just bought the "Arduino Start Pack" which includes everything you need to get started in circuitry, and make some lights blink. From there you can branch out to make it do more.
Bought it from here:

I think i'm gonna buy it :)
It sounds so cool, potentio meter used as a rotation for your car and a normal on/of switch for your engine :D
another question.. i'm gonna try it if you put your webcam motion detection with a box folowing the lichtest poin open source .
if you point your webcam to your desk and you put a licht above your webcam + a paper on the desk, will it be albe to folow your top of your finger ? couse your nail refelxes the light witch will be the moest brethest?

I don't regret buying it at all. I have always programmed stuff that stay in the computer, so my goal was to start programming stuff that you can interact with outside of a screen.
I will be posting the motion tracking (v=nNqXC_inVyA) source eventually. Right now it isn't perfect at all, but you can try it out with your paper/fingernail test. It works best with a dark surface, and a single point of bright light (maybe the light from the arduino board if that gives you any ideas).
