On behalf of CMSA (Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association) we would like to thank the AQHA for the opportunity of once again being part of their World Championship. Being there the last night during the crowning of the AQHA Super Horse and the other AQHA World Champions set the stage for an evening filled with excitement. A special thanks goes out to our CMSA/AQHA winners in Amarillo, who made this demonstration possible; Chad and Charlie Little, Bobby Ruwe, Zane Chunn, Natalie Johnson, Shifarrah Carr, Annie Bianco, and Mr. Darren Moore with his play by play announcing. CMSA would like to extend a special welcome to all the new CMSA Members ho joined at the AQHA World. The excitement found at the CMSA Booth in alliance row was catching all the way to Saturday Night's finale. A special thanks to Barb Ruwe, Melissa Miller, Wayne and Sharon Sanders for their help at this extraordinary event.
Plans are in the process for CMSA to do a special AQHA demonstration at the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, along with an AQHA/CMSA mounted shooting event being part of this year's AQHA Battle in the Saddle. Last year this event was picked up by major networks as well as the cable outlets. More details on these and other exciting AQHA/CMSA events as they unfold.
@kw757 That would be because they are shooting black powder blanks. The burning embers are what pop the balloons. The embers cool off after about 15 feet and won't pop the balloon resulting in a 5 second penalty. Live rounds would not make spectators happy ;)

weird sport - they're only about 5 feet away from all the balloons when they shoot them. Clint Eastwood could shoot a rope from 30 feet while on a horse! LOL!
