PART 1 OF 2 ////////////// Take a high value 1911 like the Taurus PT1911 and make it better for less than you think too. Here TacticalDoodle and I take the long drive down to Impact Guns in Ogden, UT to upgrade some aspects of the TNP PT1911 Project Gun. We enlist the services of experienced Impact Guns Gunsmith Terry Gardner to install the "Wilson Combat Value" parts into the gun (safety, sear, hammer, and modding the stock grip safety for interface). Previously installed by me, we didn't accomplish the proper fitting needed to achieve professional results. In this Nutnfancy two-parter, you will see Terry in detailed action as he modifies, fits, and explains his techniques for achieving an improved trigger pull on this PT1911. You can probably achieve the same results yourself after some trial and error, some botched parts, lots of time, and specially purchased jigs and Arkansas stones. We show all aspects in great detail should you choose to do. But having a professional like Terry G, with many such jobs under his belt, is the way to go to save time and money and keep things safe. The results were impressive: crisp safety actuation and a clean 4.25 lb trigger pull with improved take up. Terry G states the cost for a trigger job is $65 and accepts your shipments at the Impact Guns Ogden store (ensure UNLOADED), even your botched project guns that your "cousin" screwed up. Services shown were paid for in full by me and I receive zero money from Impact for these videos and/or resulting business. I wish only to build a cadre of good gunsmiths for my viewers gun modification needs and Terry Gardner is one of them. Tell him Nutnfancy sent ya! /////////////// Shipping information: Impact Guns, Attn: Terry G from TNP, 2710 South 1900 West, Ogden, Utah 84401, 801-393-2474, EX 306, EMAIL: terryg@impactguns.com, (phones 888-505-3086 or 801-409-1021 too). Adherence to shipping legalities and restrictions will be the sole responsibility of the sender. ///////////NOTE: Use care when modifying your firearm. You the owner assume all risks and liabilities for such work. My recommendation is to send it to a professional like Terry.

  • I do like the longer trigger on the older 1911 just hate the sights

  • I have a 1917 colt 1911 it has been nickle plated should I mod it or leave it how it is I hate the sights

  • Terry Rocks!

  • Never mind I figured it out.

  • Keep in mind the shim is moving with the stone

  • Nut fancy... I have a question. If the stone is moving back and forth and the sear is sitting higher than the shim, isn't Terry creating an arc surface? Also wouldn't such arc varied in length depending on how far he moves the stone in the back and forth motion? Can you please ask him?

  • @Harlingen78 I have sent three guns to Terry (my AR for trigger work, a winchester barrel for bluing and a Colt Delta Elite for a few mods) and I live in MD. Just use FedEx and make sure the address has "Attn: Terry" in it. I've had no problems :-)

  • Hey Nutn' Do you know if impact allows people to send in their guns from out of state to get gunsmithing done?

  • @lordjor82 give or take about 6 to 12 months of study, but that's just the bare minimum. A lot of guys do an apprenticeship program in tandem with the study. There's just so much to learn, so many systems and platforms to know. I didn't feel very knowledgeable until after a few years of working.
