Too young to have watched Steve Allen but everybody's giving him a hard time. Just as Zappa was a musician in his own right, Steve Allen was a host in his own right. He had to keep the audience entertained--neither he or they should be expected to have been ready for Zappa's artistic genius. Plus you gotta put yourself in Steve's shoes. Having never heard of probably half his guests he had no idea what to expect and has to be ready to save the show if it bombs at any second LIVE--no delay.

aha ! so thats where Frank first started peddling his art ! ? : )

@SaneLunacy His name was Steve Allen and, while not on the same level as Frank, if you read up on him you'll find he was quite a talented gentlemen in his own right in addition to being a television pioneer, and not a dick.
The host is such a dick.

Franks inspiration and hero was the French composer Edgard Varese, who if you look up on Youtube you can listen to.
