Hanoi is a great city when you travel and wanna look at beautiful places around it. But when it comes to deal with the locals, especially if you're vietnamese or viet kieu, be prepared to deal with their bad attitude and uneducated manners. It is like that everywhere in vietnam, sure, but Hanoi is the capital of vietnamese cultural backwardness.
i was there in 2008 and it was amazing.i think it so simple to live there if u are abit rich. i stayed in hanoi for 2 weeks and riding one of these motorbikes.for example from what i learnt when u cross the road you should not stop and wait just walkk slowly they will avoid crashing u. so its not that bad after all :))

I was there last winter, and, yes, it did seem worse. I had a bus accident, a cyclo accident, and nearly had another bus accident. Crazy.
