An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner, most of which are NEVER reported to the police. Clearly there is an overwhelming need for our Domestic Violence Prevention Program. Not only in Danbury, but all over the nation. We hope that you spread the word, and support our program. This is not a sexy topic as one would say, but it must be brought to the forefront so that this cycle may be broken. It's not just women who are affected, but their children many generations later....
In 1985, ARC - the Association of Religious Communities dedicated a program to help the children and families of domestic violence by treating members of their households who are or are at risk of being domestic violence offenders. By pioneering outreach practices to increase community awareness of family violence this program has made a huge impact. 70% of clients are NOT re-referred to our program due to re-arrest, which is the leading indicator of an effective domestic violence prevention program.
