I dropped out because the teachers held grudges against me, like a magpie watching me like I'm a shiny fork, they watched me until I did the most little thing wrong, then they will give me a rev for doing so, also because I was perceived as a bad student(i was eager to learn cos I wanted a career) but teachers ignored me, I felt like whenever they talked to me they were putting me down, then I decided if the teachers are gonna treat me like shit I will treat them like shit, then I left, great s

Here in L.A. county H.S. resemble prisons. Fence in with bob wire pointing in to prevent students from getting out. Prisons, fenced in with bob wire pointing in to prevent prisoners from getting out. Kind of makes you wonder if we are grooming our kids today for prison.

Bullshit. it is the kids and the parents that are the weak link. Asian kids dominate because they value education. stop being weak and work hard to equal the Asian kids commitment to education. it is no one fault but your own. the only valid excuses is you did not try hard enough. Since the Federal Government added the Department of Education in 1979, dropout rates soared to near 50% in many American cities!

Here's a quick test you can amuse yourself with! Ask any 18 year old a few questions:

1. What are the 3 branches of government?

2. What year was the Constitution ratified?

3. What Amendment calls for separation of church and state?

(This one will really get them, when you point out that NOWHERE in the Constitution does it say that!)

I think students are dropping out because they are stuck in bad schools because they lack School Choice. And they don't see a future in it for them.

Talk about the real reasons why this happens. The federal education system is F'ed. The public system needs an overhaul and needs to be brought to a local level. No more federal involvement.

Due to the budget crisis money for the type dropout prevention programs provided in this video will not be available. The School Archive Project in Dallas is making a real difference with less than $1 per student costs involved. This five year old program targeted a high school that has enjoyed a 70% increase in their graduation rate since the project started in 2005. It is a 10-year time-capsule and 10-year 8th grade class reunion/mentoring project using a 500-pound vault as the time-capsule.
