It is remarkable how bad the recent Republican presidents have been - and how the Republican cast of characters has not changed much since the Nixon administration. More info see "The Wrecking Crew" by Thomas Frank. It examines the Republican party from circa 1975 to 2008

  • Clinton was one of the better DNC presidents in the 20th Century, but he still did a lot of crappy things. He started this whole "let's encourage banks to give bad loans to people who can't afford them to buy houses" nonsense that expanded and caused the housing bubble to burst by signing the Community Reinvestment Act in 1999. He got us involved in unnecessary, unconstitutional peacekeeping missions out the ass, including the Kosovo nonsense. Waco was a disaster. Did nothin to prevent OKC.

  • Waco was botched at the beginning but I don' t believe that Clinton had anything to do with the initial raid.

The siege may have been mishandled but, in the end, Koresh killed himself and the others in the compound - not the government. Koresh could have surrendered at any times and received a fair trial.

Nobody knew OKC was coming - not even you... LOL

  • Yeah, a lot of GOP presidents sucked, but so did the Democrats. Wilson was a joke, and we never should've gotten involved in WW1. Not to mention his huge expansions of gov't power during the war were outrageous and dictatorial, to say the least. FDR was a joke, too. His New Deal did nothing to get us out of the war and actually ended up prolonging it. We could've easily gotten out of the Depression in less than a decade without the ND. Carter was incompetent. LBJ-Vietnam.

  • FDR a joke?

    He was re-elected 3 times.....

  • Nope. I am a retired our correctional Officer (prematurely so thanks to a work related back injury that required surgery) and I know when someone's being evasive and Obama has hired at least three (that I know of) law firms to HIDE FROM PUBLIC SCRUTINY his original birth certificate - and he keeps changing his story as to why.

    Evasiveness is dishonesty.

One of Israel's leading document experts says the online certificate is photo shopped, but I can see you prefer the comforts of denial.

  • Let's face facts: none of the non-Council on Foreign Relations members had a real chance. I can't say Obama "earned" anything when in fact the game was rigged from the word go. Earning and fraud are two separate issues here.

  • from the NY Times

a $10,000 investment in the S.& P. stock market index* would have grown to $11,733 if invested under Republican presidents only, although that would be $51,211 if we exclude Herbert Hoovers presidency during the Great Depression. Invested under Democratic presidents only, $10,000 would have grown to $300,671 at a compound rate of 8.9 percent over nearly 40 years.

    My take: Vote democrat!

  • I agree with you, Bush Sr, was the least destructive out of all of them, if I had been alive in '88 I would've voted for him because lets face it Dukakis sucked, he was worse than Kerry, but I think I would've went Clinton/Gore in '92. "Reaganomics" or as Bush 41 called them in 1980 "VooDoo" economics had to end. I'd agree Bush Sr was better than Reagan, and W but some of Nixon's policies were better than Bush 41, overall Clinton was the best president since Eisenhower.

  • Good grief, name one example that isn't a false myth. His anti-terrorism operations were often called "distractions" by the Republican Congress- who were busy fabricating genuine distractions of their own.

  • Reagan was a horrible president. The decline of the middle class and good-paying, union jobs began underReagan as Reagan's policy was to break and destroy the unions. There was a huge recession in 1982-83. Also poverty, crime and homelessness went up dramatically during Reagan's term.

Let's not forget that Reagan dramatically increased the size of government and started the huge, red ink spending - because deficits didn't matter under Reagan

  • Actually, for all Reagan's faults, his administration had pretty good job growth. We had, if I recall, 25-30 million or more new net jobs. Wealth creation was visible in ALL sectors of society, not just the rich. Get your head out of your ass. The job losses in the 80s b/c of outsourcing were very small compared to today. Besides, manufacturing is just one small segment of jobs. We still have lots of high-paying service jobs where real skills and talent are used, not just manual labor.

  • As much as I blame Bush for his War on Terror, Clinton's response to terrorism wasn't much better. He reneged on many opportunities to get Osama. We kept getting attacked by the terrorists, but he had no real strong response to take them down. America also got attacked in HIS first year in office (1993 WTC Bombing), just like Bush's first year.
