As a bit of trivia, this was the last song I wrote in 2009. I can remember getting all huffy at a Christmas Eve barbeque (as I sometimes do) and traipsing off to my room to mess around on FruityLoops. This was the first track where I really played with instruments and saw what I could do - the lyrics were really secondary in this one. Can you tell? Anyway, I've only recently renamed this - it used to be called A Reason Not To Cry, but I always hated that name. Into Winter sounds so much nicer. However, I'm used to the old name, so if I slip up and call it that, feel free to whap me across the face with a frozen tuna. Or a frozen tuner. Either way works, I suppose.
Lyrics:
I saw you standing there
I had to stop and stare
I saw your heart break
And as the wind passed by
I couldn't catch your eye
I saw your heart break
And I
Couldn't bear to see you cry
And I
Fall into winter
If you see the way
Tell me and we'll fly away
To someplace we can always stay
Someplace where we'll never break
One day we will see the sky
Spanning over oceans wide
Until then you can try
To give me a reason not to cry
You blinked the tears away
And said you'd been betrayed
Too much for you to take
You'd fought so many years
But your head wasn't clear
Too much for you to take
And I
Know seasons change but never die
And I
Fall into winter
If you see the way
Tell me and we'll fly away
To someplace we can always stay
Someplace where we'll never break
One day we will see the sky
Spanning over oceans wide
Until then you can try
To give me a reason not to cry
Hey, Rachel, I'm a HUGE fan of your music and have been meaning to ask this for a while now bur i only just got a youtube account. I wrote two songs using my own lyrics, but your backing tracks, i don't know what the official term for this kind of thing is, but i was wondering if you'd be okay with me posting it on here. Thanks, Rachael

Hi Rachael!
I'll send you a message about it in your inbox, this kind of stuff kind of comes down to case by case specifics.

So you sing and play the piano....that much I know, but do you play everything else that you use in your songs too???

@firecoven1
Well, sort of. I sequence it all on my computer, meaning I input the notes I want it to play. I used to do it using my mouse, but now I tend to use a special MIDI keyboard for it (makes things so much quicker). To answer your question, the only actual instrument I play is piano, but I still made the entire track.

It sounds great! :D (Ying btw) I really like the song, I love the lyrics and the melody, everything. :)
I did find the echo-ness a bit weird.. do you have a copy of the song without your voice echoing? Like, sometimes it sounded great, but other times not so great, like there were too many voices singing together? I don't know how to describe it. xD

Thanks Ying :D
My microphone was being a bit dodgy, so without the reverb it sounds kind of odd. I get what you mean, though.
