The water taxi on Lake Dillon runs between the Dillon Marina and the Frisco Marina in Summit County of Colorado.
Colorado has had close to 300% of normal annual snow this last winter season. This has made for outrageously good skiing at all Colorado resorts.
As summer sets in, the hight snow pack is threatening extreme melt runoff. Lake Dillon is one of the major flood control reservoirs for flow to the Colorado River and for trans-mountain flow to the eastern slope of the Rockies.
Lake Dillon water was lowered 25 feet from the full level in anticipation of the heavy runoff. This has made the operation of recreational boating and the water taxi work from the long stretches of exposed lakefront. No problem!
This June day had moderate winds from the west with clear skies and a temperature in the high 60's. What a great day for the family to take a ride from Dillon to Frisco and back with a stop at the Frisco Marina for tasty lunch at the Island Grill. Yum!
