we lived in miami at the time....that day was fucking scary to me...when i went outside here's what i saw...charley was over...it smelled awful out there..like dead stuff rotting...most of the houses in my neighborhood were gone...and worst of all....people were out in the streets crying...and that's what triggered my mental scars...

I was in orlando at this time, on vacaton with my family and it actually damged the inside of our hotel room and our rental vn was totaled!

Naples only had tropical storm conditions. The winds were likely no more than about 50 mph there, maybe gusting to about 60-70 mph.
The eye, while over water a couple hours before landfall, was about 40 miles from Naples.
