Canadians are good people/ with big hearts its just a game and we all must stay with human face

@bdv30 Thank you sir, from a proud Canadian who remembers with shame this disgrace. Eagleson was a pig. I miss those old Soviet Union-era hockey games too! We were arrogant going into the '72 Series, and after that I always knew that playing Russia would be a difficult and exciting game. I will never forget Tretiak,.Kharlamov and Yakushev. You played a kind of hockey we forgot about in the '60's and had to re-discover.

nothing to do with "canadians". eagleson is a well known crook. that disgraced impresario screwed lots of people including his fellow canadian super star bobby orr. he's been since disbarred, convicted of a felony and sent to prison for fraud, embezzlement, racketeering etc. unfortunately he only served like a few months...

actually i just read that the company who made the cup did it for free, and the $32,000 was donated to minor hockey :)

still can't understand how you canadians allowed this at customs. The greatest shame in history of sports! Hoping you ll let us pass with Vancouver gold at the airport and will not make your citizens pay for 23 replicas.

Good Sportsmanship Canada.
If it was GW Bush, he would not only have kept the trophy, but would claimed he won and declared mission accomplished!

Alan Eagleson is a crook and a liar.Just ask the NHL players union.

does everybody know if this guy is alive?
we want to send im an extra gift from Russia for his honest.
The Soviets won convincingly, and deserved to take the hardware home, especially when they only played for national pride in those days. Canada was bitter. And even today they still censor this embarrassment to them by hiding it in their "amazing" Canada Cup glory propaganda DvDs. This was the last real Canada Cup since the Soviets lost interest and motivation after this joke. Congrats to those few Canadians that respected the Soviet victory - maybe sad, but true hockey fans.

My sincere Russian respect to Canadian fans who donated their money to create the replica and of course to George Smith. Alan Eagleston will be remebered as a an asshole for all his life, while George Smith is a true Canadian man of honour. I miss Canada Cup! This was much more interesting than World Cups.
