  • 287 conflicts were fought involving 136 country's and resulting in the deaths of 57 million people over the course of 46 years (1945-1991).

Major Proxy Wars include the Chinese Civil War, The Vietnam War, The Korean War, Years of lead (Italy), Angolan War, Decolonization in General, Soviet-Afghan War, etcetera...

  • A lot of wars, or I guess Proxy Wars, were fought during the Cold War.. Korean war, Cuban Revolution, Vietnam war, Bay of Pigs Invasion, and Soviet-Afghan war. Those were probably the major wars during the Cold War.

  • its called the 'cold war' because the two nations USA and USSR never fought each other openly instead they fought in the political scale against one another through puppet governments etc

  • Perhaps you should study more History. Although there were no direct conflicts between Russian and US. There were numerous proxy wars fought.

  • yeah the war never broke out but the conflict underneath brought about many many 'silent' victims

  • Yes, I know. The english have always been good fighters. At least what US or some other mighty land could at least take over this planet. Then we could at least stay calm and know that we can survive the next day. If you know what I mean....

  • If they didn't then Britain would have fell as they had no allies, the USA was hiding away in isolation while Britain was around the world fighting to defend their empire from all fronts, wether that be africa, asia, or europe, britian held off the entire axis army amazingly, but that leaves them with no offence, the usa had to help wit that.

  • A cold war a war fought between words and other countries, so yes it did cause life to be taken. Life in other countries being backed by the oposing sides. There was no Russian blood spilt by Americans, just American guns and tanks and vice versa

  • It took the lives of hundreds of millions. The war was fought in every manner possible, Eastern Europe, Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Congo, Israel, Ethiopia...in every country except direct confrontation between the USSR and USA

  • Well, the basis for the WW2 is not purely religious. Most of it was cultural and need for power and control rather that anything else. There were specific people targeted, for example Jews, Romani and Homosecuals. These people were mostly targeted since there were considered impure (where as Germans had the cleanest and purest blood. Jews however were the only culture/religion that was destroyed with the inentiones to be completely wipes off the face of the earth.
