I just felt like making a serious video today. I wanted to discuss the human ego. And even though people like Eckhart Tolle and Wayne Dyer go into much more depth on this subject, I still wanted to give my own interpretation of it. I especially wanted to talk about the human ego in regards to needing external love, validation and approval, and also the need to have "enemies."

P.S. The Jet Li poster is there because, well, I just felt like putting a Jet Li poster in my video. ;P

  • ... an island" as reggae man Dennis Brown once said. Every human is but a spec of dust in comparison with the entirety of humanity.... if we use our ego to grow as an individual, we are worth more to everyone else and we can translate that to love others more completely. No matter what differences we all have we must not forget we are all the same. If only more people could see things this way... lol man I sound like a hippie. Thanks for the video, sir! :D

  • @metalmaiden310: Thanks for all your comments on my videos. I appreciate it.

  • Again very intresting stuff man, never really thought about it,but you serously made me think about the rest of the day haha, couse i recognize alot of what your sayin,And it remind's me of those ''beef'' shit in the hiphop scene between enemy rappers as example, anyway good stuff bro keep it up.

  • @systemdowncity: HAHA! I'm glad I could make you think. I agree with you that the "beef" shit that you see between rappers is a very obvious example of human beings becoming "possessed" by their egos. I love a lot of hip-hop music, but I am the first to admit that it is a very "egoic" art form (at least right now). A lot of hip-hop is based around saying what a "dope" MC you are and how every other MC is essentially garbage. It annoys me a bit, but I hope hip-hop can evolve out of that.

  • Ego is a vast concept and it is hard to encapsule everything about it in a simple video. But I do think that you do a very good job. In my opinion, ego is one's self concept or one's awareness of themselves. Among my friends who meditate and study the metaphysical, they believe that it is when you can let go of your ego and be aware of the people and things around you then you can find peace within and around yourself. Although it's important to love yourself, you can't forget that "no man is...

  • I've been exposed to a lot of stuff that said eliminating the ego is the only way because the world and all its people are evil and without it all we'd be free! etc. so it was good to see someone actually express a more positive and highly-informed, 'middle-of-the-road' (moderate? Less extreme?) point of view - not least the guy whose videos I used to piss myself laughing at 4-5 years ago. Great stuff!

  • I really enjoy your videos you always have pretty interesting topics to talk about

  • really good.

  • GOOD STUFF

  • @Cubehead666: Ah, that is a good example for why the ego is necessary. Thanks for sharing that. I also think the ego is important in establishing healthy boundaries between people. For example, I know that many people suffer in codependent type relationships in which they absorb the stress/pain of those around them. In those instances, I think it's important to say, "Okay, that is YOUR problem/issue, not mine." Without boundaries, people would just be absorbing each other's emotional baggage.
