Mr Tom, please allow some excuse for my ignorance however I would like to be informed as to why purple is forbidden? I actually like to make allowance for purple in numerous schemes, for example I find that it riddles very nicely with teals, German Telecom orange and dusty greys.

hi sweet willy, you are not bad. this is the color code of the studio. and only in the studio is it forbidden. fyi teal is also generally to be avoided, with the exception of makita blue.

Funny and informative. Loved it, thank you. I do take acception with Purple, though. A cold purple like Midnight Blue is the BEST... COLOR... EVER.
(But I do understand the rule, since purple isn't at all a utilitarian color like oranges, drab olives and reds are. It's more the Mystic's color.)
