In-game footage of me controlling both the Dragonhead and Dragonwing ships in the 2-Player Arcade Mode of Tyrian 2000. I played this at "Slow" speed, so it's not very impressive.

This level is one of the bonus levels in Episode 3, simply titled "BONUS". It also happens to be one of the most difficult bonus levels in the entire game (the hardest arguably being "WINDY" in Episode 1). If you have lots of frontal firepower, it will help you a lot through the first half of this level, but if you can't channel it sideways, you will die VERY horribly in the second half. If you have the Repulsor as your special weapon, however, you should be quite safe regardless of what kind of weapons you are carrying.

  • Nice gameplay. I tried the same "single-2-player" thing once, but ended up just controlling both ships "for the sake of it" ; but you used their individual abilities to their fullest extent. Well played.

This level is very hard, but you say "WINDY" is the hardest bonus level in the game? This level was immeasurably harder than Windy for me, ironically.

This level isn't difficult if you have the Sonic Wave, which is what Player 2 has. Sonic Wave allows you to shoot those enemies flying up the side of the screen. Compare to WINDY, which features a few enemies that shoot at you that are indestructible except with the (extremely underpowered) Mega Cannon or the (hard-to-get) SDF Main Gun. It is a level that also requires a lot of precise movement, otherwise you'll end up scraping your shields and armour off the walls.

  • Awesome performance ! I was wondering if u got any tips for me and my gf, we are playing together. And soo far we seem to have a few problems. For instance, we always seem to accidently combine our ships and then its annoying to put them apart in the middle of battle. Also accidently picking up bad weapons is annoying. Also the fact that usualy dying even once means that u will not be able to progress further ( if u die once u lose weapon power equivalent to several violet balls ).

If you accidentally combine your ships together, try moving in opposite directions. Alternatively, you can press the right mouse button, which should separate both ships.

Picking up bad weapons is something I can't really help you with. The only thing you can do is avoid them completely, which is what I do.

One of you should also be using the mouse to play, because a ship controlled by the mouse can move a lot faster than one controlled by the keyboard.

True. Windy had the advantage of becoming far easier once you memorized it, however.

This Bonus level quickly becomes chaotic on harder difficulties, though, because of the wide green ships of doom.

The part with the enemies from behind can be done without side weaponry, as long as you're able to bash through the orange ships and into the sonic-wave-shooters. Suicidal but possible.

Or get the Repulsor and watch the sonic waves split in half, hehe.
