to all you idiots;its quite obvious that the throttle is stuck.there was no lag in throttle time after cranking, besides no one that gives a damn about their motor would do this.

@imagod00d Read the fucking description next time, and then you won't look like a retard.

Ha, I've done this once. Full throttle with an L16, probably was doing 8000RPM, never had it revving that hard before in it's life! haha.

@jellyfish458 actually i said that because it takes about 30 seconds for oil to circulate through the motor and u have just reved the fuck out of it with no oil. ps big words dont mean shit!

@0417469006 Dear Richard Craniam. I notice you haven't used big words, so I assume your IQ is as small. The car has completed some 20,000 trouble free miles since this start-up. So I will have to argue with you that the car isn't 'fucked up' as you so eloquently put it.

I Think it is normal if you start the car after 7 years ,but they should check the carps before that ,to make sure it moves free

@armani9300 We had done all the normal checks and we thought they were free running, but 10,000 on, it's still fine thankfully,

First problem: you didn't drain the fuel tank and replace fuel, and fuel lines
Second: you sat and let it red line for a while trying to figure out wtf is going on, on a motor that hasn't run in a while
Third: you put the throttle linkage control bar in backwards, the same thing happened to me with my dads 69' 2000 when I woke it from a 14 year sleep

The tank was drained and was refurbished, the fuel lines were new. The crap you see is from the exhaust.
I did try to immediately switch it off, but we had fitted an alternator from a later which bypassed part of the ignition and didn't allow me to switch it off. In the end we had to pull the HT leads to cut the engine.
The throttle linkage was basically OK, it was combination of lack of use in the linkage since it was restored and the stickiness of the dash pots
