The results of my Ethnography of a Community of Practice Project for Bill Moseley's Learning Theories class as part of the Masters in Learning Technologies at Pepperdine University.
If I failed to make this clear, I chose to examine the CoP associated with thrown weapons practice and competition within the Society for Creative Anachronisms. Along with observing others interacting with and learning from the community, I joined in the fun, completed my thrown weapons authorization, and threw knives at a block of wood for nearly four straight hours with the advice and encouragement of three highly capable and qualified community experts.
Perhaps someday in the near future I'll consider turning in less absurd assignments... I might be enjoying this more than should be allowed.
