Christmas Eve Mass at the Russian Orthodox Church of Our Lady of Glastonbury in Hamilton Ontario Canada. The Church of our Lady of Glastonbury is attached to Christ the Saviour Benedictine Monastery (Christminster). The Western Rite used at the Russian Orthodox Church of our Lady of Glastonbury is the Latin Rite that was in use prior to the Great Schism (in Traditional English Translation). Latin is used from time to time both at the Church and at the Monastery and often Hymns are sung in Latin as well. The Church and Monastery maintains a close relationship with the Antiochian Western Rite Vicariate and its various Parishes some of whom have Oblates under the spiritual direction of Christminster and its Abbot Dom James Deschene.

You either are a catholic -or protestant- troll, or are plain...stupid?

You have many catholic churches to choose from. Go live your lax spiritual life where people don't care about what you call "nonsense".

U are absolute right. When u look at ancient churches in the west - they even had an "iconostasis" that seperated the Altar or Holy Table from the rest - they also had a narthex.

I have seen it in many ancient churches in Italy and Germany, Austria, France etc. Also iconography was almost the same. The Most Holy Theotokos was depicted on icons like we have do it until this day.

In Rome are more than 7 icons not made my human hands.

During the first 10 Centuries of the united Church, differences in iconography, architecture, vestments and rituals (besides the languages) were minimal between East and West, like today is between Coptic and Orthodox Art. Look a Pre-romanesque (or even romanesque) church in Spain and a greek orthodox temple. They look like very very similar!

The changes and subsequent differences came -gradually- as a product of the Schism, and were sealed and consolidated with the Humanism-Renaissance.

We don't have anything against you as people, but about the totalitarian, prideful system governed by the Pope.

You are right. If the converts need to be somehow pampered with a similar rite to the one they are used to (for tradition, culture, etc) is because they are not mature (and I would say humble) enough to fully enter in the Orthodox Church. They should be willing to go to ANY church of any rite within orthodoxy.

liturgistic, can you explain to me why is -among other anti-orthodox traditions- that the western rite priest baptize nt by immersion, but by aspersion (being that a usage that eve the latins did not develop until the XIII or XVI Century)? Or why western rite priests don't grow their beards?

Besides, Western Rite churches ALL have pews and even organs, and that is deeply anti-orthodox (let's remember that even the Papists didn't have pews in their churches until the middle of the XIX Century).

    Dear Brother,

"What is the difference between Orthodoxy and other "groups"? We ORTHODOX KEEP TRADITION and the FAITH of the Apostles and Fathers. When someone wants a modernised church - there are THOUSENDS out there."

That written above is your witness. You are preaching the law. The law is critical, but so is the love. Be a witness to the submission to the law, and share the love of God. Orthodox and right thinking christians share your concerns. Peace of Christ.
