Dr. David Burks' (alleged) Freudian Slip-Up

The president of Harding University (a Church of Christ-affiliated, liberal arts college in Searcy, Arkansas)mispronounces the name of a female social club. His mispronunciation (ri-ˈjī-nə) sounds strikingly similar to the word vagina. Some have speculated that this was a Freudian slip, assuming that Burks was thinking about vagina. I personally don't hold this view but thought that the public should be able to make their own decision.

I've been getting some really rude comments. I didn't approve them so fortunately you never had to see them. But in the spirit of fair play I'll address the issue raised.

A few poor sports have claimed that (ri-ˈjī-nə)is the correct pronunciation. Logic unfortunately contradicts this assertion. If Burks hadn't mispronounced the word, he would not have been awkwardly corrected on stage and he would not have corrected himself. I think I'll stick with Harding's president's pronunciation.
