Hey everyone, this is my attempt at starting a tag. I hadn't really seen any here on YT that were geared towards the UTT community and thought it might be fun to try. I guess my idea was that since we are all different, with different hair types and lengths, these would end up being super helpful and great little reference points for those who have questions and/or need and want to change their routine.
I've written 12 questions, but please feel free to add or take away form them!
Hope you all enjoy the tag and do it too!
1 What is your natural hair type, color and length?
2 Tell us about your haircut. Do you cut it yourself or go to a salon? How many layers do you have?
3 What hair brush or combs do you use?
4 Favorite hair accessory? Where did it come from?
5 What is your favorite way to wear your hair?
6 Favorite shampoo and conditioner?
7 Favorite hair oil, leave in conditioner, detangler, etc.?
8 Do you wash your hair everyday?
9 How do you wear your hair to bed?
10 Do you use heat tools like a hair dryer, straightener or curling iron? How often?
11 What are your two favorite hair tips?
12 What is your hair length goal?
@AranelEnMirkwood I know what you mean. I learned from a gf who's a professional hairdresser, and she learned in school, so she's kind of my "go-to" when I have questions. I wish I could remember where I read that article so I could pace the link on. The Doctor who wrote it, suggested that young people lost their hair due to stress, but that sulfates contributed in weakening the hair shafts too, making it worse!

@LaDollyVita33 thank you for the explanation! I've read so many blogs and what-have-you and no one bothers to explain why sulphates are bad.

@AranelEnMirkwood....shampoo. I think most of it is preference! When you find something you love, stick with it. I really enjoy my sulfate free shampoos now, I find they are way less drying on my naturally light colored and thin hair! But my husband prefers his John Frieda stuff! To each his own!! Sorry for the long comment!

@AranelEnMirkwood...care of that issue for you, then you should stick to it, or listen to your doctor. I don't think sulfate free would hurt you though, and I can't imagine it wouldn't clean your scalp, so if you decide to give it a shot, I don't think it'll bother you. I've heard complaints from some women saying they sulfate free doesn't work to get all the build up from styling products out - but I don't use any really, and I think this is easily remedied with a once a week cleansing, cont...

@AranelEnMirkwood ...Sulfate free shampoo provides the cleanliness to one's hair and scalp, without stripping away natural oils that our bodies need. It was disconcerting for me at first when I switched because there isn't the same lather, but I noticed right away that my hair was less dry, I had less split ends and it was just healthier and more manageable in general! HOWEVER, one of my best friends has psoriasis on his scalp too, and I think that if you have found something that takes, cont...

@AranelEnMirkwood This is how sulfates were explained to me: They're basically the chemicals that are used to create the lather we all associate with shampoo and cleanliness, but its also the same stuff we find in dish soap and laundry detergent. It's effective, but harsh, especially when it comes to people. I read an article by a doctor once, discussing how he was confounded when he discovered how so many of his younger patients were losing their hair earlier and earlier in life. Cont.....

What's wrong with sulphate shampoos? Just curious.
My conditioner is sulphate free but my shampoo isn't and probably never will be. My hair would probably love it if it wasn't but I know my scalp would hate it if I changed shampoos.
(I have psorasis on my scalp, and the only shampoos my scalp likes are the Lush solid ones, Soak & Float and Ultimate Shine)
